Review of O’Conaill’s Real Milk Hot Chocolate Kit
April 7th, 2008

When I was in O’Conaills Chocolate shop and cafe last week, I spotted this kit and couldn’t resist purchasing it. As previously mentioned O’Conaill’s make devine hot chocolates in their shop and I was interested to replicate these at home.
The kit contains a jar of pure unalkalised cocoa powder, a jar of milk couverture chocolate chips which means that they contain a minimum of 32% cocoa butter and instructions on how to make the hot chocolate either by microwave or on your hob.
I decided to go with the safe option of trying it using a saucepan, followed the instructions and yes siree, the result was a delicious hot chocolate. Not quite the standard of the cafe but close enough and much better than any other home hot chocolate I have come across. The kit contains enough choc chips to make around 5 mugs of hot chocolate, but there appears to be plenty of extra cocoa powder as only one heaped teaspoon required per serving. So it may be worth buying extra choc chips to make the kit go further.
This is attractively packaged and would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves chocolate. As far as I recall it costs approximately €8 and also comes in White and Dark chocolate versions.
