Review of Cappuccino’s Bistro and Cafe

Cappuccino’s Bistro and Cafe,1 St Patrick’s Place, Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland

Fast, friendly service of a tasty lunch for 2 adults and 6 children. Good choice of food for all.

Yesterday on the way home from the playground, myself and my 5 kids, Teresa and her baby Kieran decided to pop into the newly opened Cappuccino Cafe Bistro. We had just intended popping in for lattes and juices for the kids but as it was around noon, we decided to stop for lunch.

The first thing that impressed me was the attitude of the staff. An immediate “can do” reaction, despite being faced with my double buggy and Teresa’s single buggy. No problem, we were ushered to a large corner table and high chairs were offered for the babies.

Its a large bright restaurant looking out on one of Bandon’s main thoroughfares. There was a good crowd there already ranging in all ages and in couples, groups and families. The children had a variety of dishes to order from. Teresa remarked that there was a good range of vegetarian options too.

The drinks were delivered to our table very quickly after we ordered, which kept all happy.

I ordered a bagel with Ardsallagh goat’s cheese, pesto and olives. It was delicious. Teresa had foccacia topped with cashel blue cheese, caramelised onions and walnuts. She enjoyed it. Our accompanying lattes hit the spot.

The 8 year old and 2 year old had fish and chips. This was nicely served, easy for them to handle, the fish on the plate and the chips in a bowl. The fish was a breaded fillet and the chips thin and crispy. The 5 year old went for penne with tomato and basil sauce. This was accompanied with a small slice of garlic bread. It tasted good and he liked it. The 3 year old opted for a ham sandwich. Unfortunately she decided she didn’t like it and decided to trade her brother for some of his fish and chips instead. All had apple juice.

Overall this was a very pleasant lunch. The children were happy and therefore we were relaxed, the service excellent. The total cost was approximately €37 which I felt was good value.

We’ll be back.
