everyone cant be wrong,lets face it debenhams customer relations is nil and their card is just the pits,avoid signing up for the card at all costs

My wife had the Debenhams/Santander card. The statementsay they are open 24 hrs but are in fact only open 9 to 5. My wifes card was cloned and used to obtain cash, She had insurance but the company accused my wife of passing her card number to a member of the family, and they were using it. Result my wifes card has been stopped, and she has to pay the £700 that was taken using the cash points. Insurance a waste of time police not interested. so be very dilligent on checking your statements, something my wife did not do

Hard Sell. Just got my Mastercard from Debenhams/Santandar and phoned to activate card. After the usual questions the girl on the phone started on about protecting against id theft, straight away guessing it was some kind of insurance thing I said I do not want any further cover, still pushing “why don’t you want to protect yourself against identity theft?” she said. After saying no twice I hung up on her. Like any other credit card insurance, it’s just to cover the comapnys @r$e not yours. I will close the account once the balance is paid off, I don’t like pushy companies. Kev.

i was in store today i appled for a criedt card but she put me down for store card can i change this to a criedet card

Was at a Debenhams store recently, the cashier asked if I wanted to sign up for a store card. She said I would get 10% off, I thought great..yes, why not…I asked what the whole deal with it was and she said well you just pay for your goods with the card but its not like a credit card and you dont pay any interest!
She started muttering about something and got me conflustered (even red)so I just said, I’d get it the next day I was in and would pay cash this time.
I wouldnt mind Im never in the shop, only get something for my little girl on special occasions.
Anyway….Logged on interent this evening to see if I could sign up online and came across this thread, Super glad I had all these posts to read and set me straight. The words GE MONEY gives me chills..They are a joke!

Im another dumb woman ! I wanted to save 10 % and did it, I sign this form. After 1 hour I tried to cancel everything – and then of course everything which was very easy – now became very complicated. The worse is that at the til point nobody said this is credit card ! Im so stupid ! Tomorrow Im going first to customer service, then I’ll write the letter to Santande/Abbey. And maybe in the good mood they will cancel my card without giving me trouble. wish me luck !

I too applied recently for a store card which I paid in full 2 weeks after that date. Anyway instead of a store card a mastercard arrived in the post. I rang to cancel and explained that I did not apply for a credit card and was told I had to put in writing to have it cancelled. I don’t understand how they can just send you a credit card with €3000 limit without proof of salary etc. Anyway definitely not keeping it am warning everyone to make sure they don’t sign up for one.

tried to pay my wifes store card,when asked how much i said all of it,i got the same question back,once againi said i want to pay card offwith my debit card,they saidi could not unless i had my wife with me to confirm its her card,,utterly ridiculous as i only wanted to pay the bill

I have to agree with you all. They are an absolute NIGHTMARE! One missed payment (entirely my fault due to illness) and I must have received 20 phone calls in a week! Having explained this to them and ensuring that the money would be paid (which it was) I still persistently received calls every day…..and the same things said every time, they certainly are reading from a script. I’m soooo looking forward to clearing my balance with them
